Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in a related field and four years of related experience. Additional experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements. The university offers market competitive salary and benefits. Grade EG. Salary Minimum $48,421. 

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Complete understanding of and expertise in sonography in mice
  • Familiarity with The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) rules and regulations
  • Experience animal research and protocol development
  • Understanding of operation of pathology suite
  • Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and facilitate repair of scientific equipment
  • Excellent oral and written interpersonal communication skills
  • Familiarity with ordering supplies
  • Familiarity with performing invoicing/billing with FBS software
  • Experience in the oversight and management of multiple shared research laboratories, e.g., technical core director.
Position Description

The primary function is to assist the Core Director and other faculty in the coordination and management of cardiovascular physiology core. This includes training and supervision of lab personnel; planning, coordinating, and performing experiments; overseeing laboratory orders for equipment and supplies; operating and maintaining laboratory equipment;  performing administrative duties, including preparing IACUC protocols, updating protocols by writing and submitting modifications/amendments, developing standard operating procedures and lab specific documents (chemical inventory, chemical hygiene plan, databases, spreadsheets); assisting in preparation of materials for grants and manuscripts; and performing monthly billing of fee for service activities in the Center using the core management software (FBS).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete understanding of sonography in mice
  • Thorough understanding of a pathology laboratory
  • Plan, coordinate, perform/conduct experiments, collect and organize data in a cogent manner, summarize results and communicate experimental findings to supervisor
  • Assist Core Director and faculty in the management of cardiovascular research laboratory and activities, including independently managing day to day activities
  • Training of staff, trainees, and faculty in research procedures including proper use of sonography system, analysis platform, and pathology suite
  • Oversees laboratory orders
  • Assist in preparation of materials for grants and manuscripts
  • Operate and maintain a variety of laboratory equipment essential for projects
  • Develop standard operating procedures and laboratory specific documents, i.e., laboratory chemical hygiene plan, chemical inventory, spreadsheets, databases

Prepare IACUC protocols related to a project; update protocols by writing and submitting modifications/amendments
