Research Laboratory Technician (Molecular & Cellular Biology/Immunology)

A Research Laboratory Technician position is immediately available in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. We are seeking motivated individuals who are knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Applications  possess high-level organizational and communication skills. Duties may include, but are not limited to, cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining laboratory bench space and equipment; assisting Scientists with experiments and possibly performing some experiments or some part of experiments; keeping records; using computers and computerized equipment for research; assisting with research data analysis; maintaining laboratory supply inventory; processing, organizing and summarizing data; reporting experiment results using a variety of scientific, word processing, spreadsheet or presentation applications; ensuring compliance with all applicable safety regulations in conjunction with the laboratory, safety and regulatory offices; and coordinating and carrying out shipments of laboratory reagents.  

The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: high school diploma or equivalent. Preference will be given to candidates who are knowledgeable in basic molecular and cellular biology, immunology and/or cancer biology. Ability to take initiative in work. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to interact well and in a professional manner across diverse scientific and professional disciplines. Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to successfully handle cell cultures, biological samples and/or animal models are highly desirable. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.

Patient safety is a top priority.
