Research Laboratory Technician II-Microbiology (NH)

Under general supervision, position provides a wide variety of moderately complex laboratory testing and technical lab support for a Primary/Principal Investigator in the Department of Microbiology.  This role requires knowledge of the processes/procedures in testing, documenting experiments, maintaining laboratory notebook, and analyzing data. and.  This role will also require being the primary contact for the laboratory under the direction of the Principal Investigator and the current Associate Director of Molecular.  Some of these responsibilities will include handling hazardous waste, autoclaving, media and buffer preparation.
This position is 100% grant funded.
This position will work normal business hours; depending upon research needs position may require evening, weekend, and holiday work.  
 


Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in microbiology and molecular biology required; Prefer a master’s degree in microbiology and molecular biology.
2-4 year's research lab experience; prefer experience with bacterial cultures, susceptibility testing, PCR, isolation and evaluation of RNA expression, protein isolation for Western analysis, and evaluation of sequencing and bioinformatics data.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: 
Prior experience with bacterial cultures, susceptibility testing, PCR, isolation and evaluation of RNA expression, protein isolation for Western analysis, and evaluation of sequencing and bioinformatics data, preferred;
Understanding of research methods, laboratory techniques, and care of laboratory equipment; 
Ability to interpret data, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues; 
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel; PowerPoint and Outlook;
Detail oriented;
Analytical skills;
Strong work ethic;
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to worked with graduate/undergraduate students;
Ability to lead;
Ability to work independently and be a part of a small team;
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending upon research needs
