Research Lab Technician

The Mabe lab (https://www.mabelabpurdue.com ) in the Borch Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology in the College of Pharmacy and Purdue Center for Cancer Research is seeking an enthusiastic research assistant to perform laboratory research in pediatric oncology.  Our lab uses multi-omics and CRISPR-Cas9 screening to identify novel drug targets and epigenetic modifiers that are important in solid pediatric cancer biology. 

As the Lab technician you will be responsible for the ordering of supplies, inventorying of reagents, training of lab personnel, performing scientific experiments, and presenting science at team meetings. You will be performing scientific experiments including but not limited to ChIP-sequencing, CUT&RUN, RNA-sequencing, molecular cloning, drug viability assays, CRISPR/Cas9 editing, flow cytometry, western blotting, in vivo tissue analysis, and qPCR under the direction of experienced lab personnel.  

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree     
• Some experience (including undergraduate) in the life sciences including pharmacology, molecular biology, cancer biology, or related field
• Basic computational experience with R, Unix, and Excel is a plus

Skills Needed:

• Ability to conduct independent research with clear instruction
• Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills
• Basic laboratory techniques and principles of molecular biology
