Position Summary
A Research Technician position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Srikanth Singamaneni. Responsible for assisting with laboratory duties in a research setting.


Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintains stem cell cultures, including embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells. Duties include propagating, passaging, and cryopreserving stem cell lines.

  • Prepares neural progenitor cultures from stem cells and generates and maintains mature neural cultures and brain organoids.

  • Assists and conducts small animal experiments with mice and rats.

  • Sterilization and preparation of media, materials, and equipment for cell culture work.

  • Performs enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) to detect protein biomarkers in serum/plasma samples.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, biomedical engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Prior laboratory experience in cell culture and small animal models.
  • Interest in learning and applying new techniques is highly preferred.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a laboratory or research setting equaling 4 years may substitute for this requirement.

Salary Range
$16.59 - $25.92 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
