Position Summary
The Patti Lab seeks a Research/Lab Technician II to perform experiments and analysis of metabolic extracts by using liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS), and to perform basic maintenance of instruments.
Job Description
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform molecular biology experiments including qPCR and Western blot under the direction of the supervisor or colleagues in the lab.
- Work with in vitro and in vivo models of disease.
- Analyze data, with input from the PI or colleagues.
- Help maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation.
- Assist in manuscript preparation and do literature searches as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge with data organization, analysis, and graphics software packages.
- Experience with cell culture methods, cloning, and in vivo models of disease
- Ability to work on several projects in parallel and associated good time management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to work closely with the Principal Investigator and other laboratory researchers.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience in a laboratory or research setting.

Salary Range
$16.08 - $25.12 / Hourly
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
