Position Summary
The Patti Lab seeks a Research/Lab Technician II to perform experiments and analysis of metabolic extracts using liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS).


Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform metabolite extraction, by known procedures and under the direction of the supervisor or graduate student colleagues in the lab.
  • Perform liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS), by known procedures and under the direction of the supervisor or graduate student colleagues in the lab.
  • Analyze metabolomic data, with input from the PI or colleagues.
  • Assist in manuscript preparation.
  • Conduct literature searches, as needed.

Working Conditions

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work on several projects in parallel while applying excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to work closely with the Principal Investigator and other laboratory researchers.
  • Working knowledge with data organization, analysis, and graphic software packages.
  • Experience with mass spectrometry techniques and cell culture methods.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience in a laboratory or research setting.

Salary Range
$15.61 - $24.39 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
