Position Summary
We are seeking a Research/Lab Technician II to support and advance our work in systems and computational neuroscience. Much of our work is highly interdisciplinary, ideal candidates may be “tinkerers” with a background in engineering and/or design, or prior experience working in a neuroscience lab, or familiarity with scientific computing.
The primary duties of this position include design and fabrication of custom components for experiments (we have a maker space with 3D printing, laser cutting, small electronics workstations, and heavier tooling), stereotaxic surgeries, electrode fabrication, data analysis, and colony management. There will be opportunity for training in complementary skills.
Job Description
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform experimental preparation and data collection.
- Execute data processing and basic coding.
- Perform colony management.
- Complete general laboratory management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience or employment in a related field of research.
- Experience with design, engineering, code, and fabrication.
- Enthusiasm and competency working in a laboratory.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience in a laboratory or research setting.

R06-H
Salary Range
$16.08 - $25.12 / Hourly
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
