potentially some clinical research that focuses on management and treatment strategies for the critically ill and injured. Specific areas of interest and current focus include but are not limited to models of hemorrhagic shock, acute cardiac arrest, traumatic brain injury, and sepsis. The applicant will work closely with several research faculty and other research staff in established labs at the North Campus Research Complex (NCRC) and possible occasions at the University Hospital. Please note that this is a one year, term-limited position, but renewal is possible, pending funding.

The successful candidate will perform laboratory experiments which include assisting with highly complex surgical procedures for physiological monitoring of animals, and a wide variety of biological sample collection and testing. Regular duties may include maintaining laboratory equipment, autoclaving supplies, ordering supplies, maintainance and documentation of lab safety for compliance, and data collection/management. Some collection of clinical data and records management will be required. Participation in regular lab meetings and discussions is expected. Must work effectively in a team setting or autonamously, communicate effectively, and keep clear precise records. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in biology, veterinary or animal science, or related scientific field. Previous lab or research experience needed. The appropriate candidate must possess excellent organizational, multitasking, and communication skills as well as the ability to function both independantly and as part of a highly cohesive team.
Bachelor’s degree in biology, veterinary or animal science, or related scientific degree plus 2-4 years of experience in animal research, inluding two years of previous experience with large animals. Previous experience with the collection and handling of large and complex data sets is desired. The successful candidate will have excellent organizational and time management skills, good communication skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and strong enthusiasm for developing new skills and expertise.
Full time Monday thru Friday. Flexible schedule with some nights and weekends depending on study.
