Position Summary
Our lab studies the role of microRNAs and chromatin remodeling complexes in neurogenesis and devise cellular reprogramming approaches to generate human neurons by directly converting skin fibroblasts to neurons. Our goal is to model adult-onset neurodegenerative disorders with patient-derived neurons and study how the aging of human neurons contributes to the vulnerability to neurodegeneration. This position performs and oversees research projects, laboratory processes, personnel, and equipment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs laboratory administrative functions such as scheduling, purchasing and establishing record keeping systems.
  • Supervises laboratory staff assigned, assuring appropriate study procedures, review of staff work, explaining policies and procedures and screening of new employees.
  • Develops procedure manuals and operational/technical guidelines for lab studies.
  • Participates in lab study processes, maintaining records and preparing reports as required.
  • Researches and recommends new methods and procedures to maintain current capabilities, quality and standards.

Working Conditions

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with tissue culture and molecular biology cell reprogramming.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of standard laboratory policies, procedures and equipment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with three or more years of lab experience including supervisory responsibility or equivalent combination of education and experience equaling seven years.

Salary Range
$51,400.00 - $93,400.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
