Research Lab Specialist Inter

The Paulson laboratory is looking to fill two positions for Research Lab Specialist. The successful candidates may be hired into either an intermediate or associate level depending on experience. (Please see required qualifications below for more information.)

We are seeking candidates skilled in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, and proteomic techniques. ?The overarching goals of the laboratory are to understand the mechanisms that regulate protein quality control in neurons and determine why deficits in these pathways lead to protein misfolding/aggregation and neurotoxicity.  

We study these pathways with the goal of developing potential treatments for neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer?s Disease, frontotemporal dementia, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and polyglutamine expansion diseases. Specifically, the successful candidate(s) will work alongside Dr. Henry Paulson and Dr. Lisa Sharkey and existing lab members to design, perform, and interpret experiments focused on disease-linked proteins and pathways that regulate or disrupt protein quality control in the cell. Training will be provided as needed, but we desire candidates who have significant previous experience with molecular biological techniques including CRISPR and cloning. In addition, the hired candidate will supervise and help train undergraduate research assistants and junior technicians in the lab. Candidates with diverse skill sets in cellular and molecular biology are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to applicants who seek more than 1 year of commitment to this position.
