The Department of Molecular & Integrative Physiology seeks applications for a Research Investigator to conduct independent investigations relating to the metabolic regulation of aging primarily by flavin-containing monooxygenase enzymes and/or host microbiome interactions.

The successful candidate will be expected to work primarily with the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans with potential microbial studies while also participating in the supervision of laboratory technicians, graduate students, and undergraduate trainees under the direction of Dr. Scott Leiser.


Responsibilities*

The Research Investigator will be expected to work largely independently, write drafts of manuscripts, present data at national/international meetings and apply for relevant funding when eligible. The successful candidate will also participate in the supervision of technicians, graduate and undergraduate students, attend lab meetings and relevant seminars and participate in necessary training modules (including Responsible Conduct of Research).


Required Qualifications*

Successful candidates must have: (i) an outstanding research training with previous experience in metabolism and microbiome based signaling and aging in nematode models (ii) a PhD, MD or combined degrees with postdoctoral training (iii) a well-defined research direction with an outstanding publication record that is commensurate with the level of training; (V) the critical elements of teaching (e.g., knowledge of subject matter, skill in presentation, enthusiastic approach).
