Summary

This Research Investigator will use Drosophila as the model system to study the functions of neural circuit motifs.  They will lead a team consisting of students and technicians to develop novel trans-synaptic interrogation tools for mapping neural circuits and behavior relationships in the brain. They will also assist in developing and implementing our lab's outreach program.


Responsibilities*

-       Drive the development of novel trans-synaptic interrogation tools tailored specifically for mapping neural circuits and dissecting the intricate relationships between neural activity and behavior.

-       Guide and mentor a team of students and lab technicians, fostering an environment of collaboration, creativity, and scientific rigor.

-       Independently develop and implement an outreach program for high school students aimed at using Drosophila as a model system for neuroscience research with guidance from the lab PI.

-       Participate in grant and manuscript writing.


Required Qualifications*
  •         Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree and at least 3 years of postdoctoral experience in a recognized field of science directly related to the position
  •         Extensive experience with Drosophila genetics and neurobiology.
  •         Exceptional work ethic
  •         Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills contributing to a strong team environment.
  •          Strong mentorship record.

Desired Qualifications*

-       Experience in developing novel, transgenic animal models and computational analysis is highly desired.
