Position Details:

Summary of Duties:

Perform research in the neurobiology of sleep, circadian rhythms, feeding, thermoregulation, and related central nervous system functions. Work performed includes surgical and behavioral manipulation of experiments, computerized collection and analysis of physiological and behavioral data, and basic tissue sampling procedures. Work in biorhythms sometimes requires non-traditional work hours for tissue collections and other experimental manipulations.


Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study or equivalent related field experience performing professional-level work with scientific or clinical research protocols. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Experimental and analytical skills; understanding and knowledge of research theory; interviewing experience; excellent organizational and project management skills.

  • B.A. or B.S. in a science-related field (i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Neuroscience, or Animal Science). 

  • Proficient in computer skills including e.g. spread sheets and word processing and statistical software.

  • Familiarity with basic laboratory methods (making solutions, pipetting, operating autoclave and centrifuges). 

  • Experience with small laboratory animal handling/research.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated general knowledge of statistics. 

  • Experience with animal surgical procedures. 

  • Experience with polysomnographic coding software.

This is a temporary position expected to end on June 30, 2023. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
