Position Description:

The Envirome Institute is looking for a Research Grants Program Manager I to assist with the management of research operations at the Envirome Institute. The person in this position will serve as a resource to researchers providing information and advice on matters related to assigned business areas, including award administration and fiscal management of grants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify and manage all aspects of award administration. Liaise with principal investigators, the Office of Research, and sponsors to facilitate receipt of awards. Review all award terms and conditions upon funding and advise Principal Investigators (PIs) of the terms and conditions.
  • Assist PIs with subcontracts and Personal Services Contracts. Prepare re-budget requests for submission to OSPA. Advise PIs on carry forward funds, report due dates, and final reports to agencies. Serve as the liaison with the Office of Sponsored Programs and external granting agencies.
  • Provide support to faculty, staff, and divisions with post award questions/issues regarding financial and reporting. Advise PIs on appropriateness of expenditures. Monitor awards for allowable expenses and adherence to budget categories; manage and reconcile research accounts using BA4. Coordinate the submission of funding allocations and cost transfers. Ensure that all financial policies and procedures are in compliance and reporting deadlines are met.
  • Facilitate research activities of the Envirome Institute with university departments and with federal, state, and private partners.
  • Prepare and maintain internal and external administrative reports for the Envirome institute and maintain grant-related workload effort reports for PIs.
  • Assist the Director of Finance and Operations with administrative, planning, and operational issues, special projects, and development and implementation of operating procedures.
  • Train and supervise an entry-level Research Grant Coordinator who will handle pre-award submissions for the Institute. Supervise and coordinate activities of Graduate Research Assistants.
  • Act as a formal backup for new grant proposal submissions, which includes preparation of new budgets and assembly of electronic grant packages per sponsor Requests for Proposals.
  • Analyze systems, policies, and procedures and initiate changes to provide effective management of research activities.
  • Participate in relevant trainings and workshops/conferences/seminars designed to increase knowledge of professional research administration and financial concepts and practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience with pre- and post-award administration of grants and contracts, including proposal submissions to entities such as NIH, CDC, state agencies, and foundations.
  • Experience with university reports, Peoplesoft, WorkdayHR, BA4, OnBase, iRIS, and Cayuse
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
