Job Summary

The University of Michigan Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join a multi-disciplinary team focused on investigating the reproductive health in underrepresented populations of women.  The successful candidate will help analyze data, author manuscripts, present at national meetings, and participate in reproductive epidemiological grant submissions. Possible research projects include, but are not limited to, reproductive outcomes associated with obesity and glucose dysregulation, and correlates of ovarian aging and ovarian reserve. 

The candidate should hold a doctoral degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, anthropology, Women’s Studies, or a closely related field, and have an interest in reproductive epidemiology. The candidate should also demonstrate ability in computer programming and independent thinking and be in possession of excellent communication and writing skills.   The successful candidate will be supervised by Dr. Erica Marsh, Division Chief of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Michigan Department of OBGYN but will also engage and work with the project team faculty at the UM School of Public Health, NIEHS Epidemiological Branch and the Preventative Medicine Department at Northwestern University.  Support for professional development activities and travel to meetings for the post-doctoral fellow will be available.

Required Qualifications*
  • PhD in epidemiology, biostatistics or a related field with a demonstrated experience in designing, implementing and analyzing field studies.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills and a record of high-quality peer-reviewed publications and the ability to compete for grant funding.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships with a range of people and across a range of disciplines are crucial to the role, as the post will require frequent interaction and liaison with our collaborators across the country and with learners at multiple levels.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the capability to achieve research objectives independent of day to day supervision.
  • A strong work ethic is expected.

Desired Qualifications*

Experience in reproductive/women’s health, Maternal and Child Health, and/or obesity research and/or glucose dysregulation.

Additional Information

This position is one year in duration with the possibility of renewal in subsequent years per UM policy.
