Summary

Applications are sought for a postdoctoral research position to work on a multi-disciplinary project focusing on molecular monitoring and control of infectious diseases in the environment funded by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Expected start date is September 1, 2024. Duration of the appointment will be initially for 1 year with possible extension for an additional one year depending on performance and the availability of funding. The person appointed will be based in Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and will work under the supervision of Professor Chuanwu Xi.  


Responsibilities*

Candidates will work on the following project elements: 

  • development of molecular monitoring of emerging infectious diseases in the environment
  • bioinformatics and data analysis
  • prevention and control of  the spread of infectious agents in the environment

Required Qualifications*

Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree (Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Environmental Biotechnology, Bioinformatics or related disciplines) and strong interests in research on molecular-level analysis of environmental microbial systems. Enthusiasm for top-quality research and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team will be highly appreciated.
