Summary

The Ganesh Lab in the Internal Medicine Department, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine and Department of Human Genetics is looking for a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Research Fellow candidates for human genetics studies of vascular disease. We are employing in vitro cellular and in vivo models to assess the functional significance of our genomic discoveries, with engineering collaborations and integrative genomic studies of transcriptomic, proteomic and epigenetic factors involved in genome regulation in the vasculature that contribute to human diseases. Specific topics include arterial dissections, matricellular dysfunction in arterial dysplasia phenotypes, and cellular signaling pathway dysregulation in the phenotypes that we study. The candidate will be a member of a dynamic collaborative research lab involved in genetics research; the lab is involved in clinical ascertainment efforts, computational and statistical genetic and bioinformatic methods implementation; vascular biology research using in vitro and in vivo models of cardiovascular diseases, particularly those that disproportionately impact women.  Candidates will gain exposure to genetic, clinical and translational research.

Candidates should have publications in genetics, molecular biology, vascular biology, or computational biology/transcriptomics areas, with an interest in human genetics. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in both human genetics and functional biology investigation and how the two are integrated in disease-oriented research. The ideal candidate is highly motivated to learn scientific methods and to write manuscripts and grant applications. The laboratory has secured multiple NIH and non-NIH sources of funding.
