The Culture Collaboratory, directed by Dr. Stephanie Fryberg, seeks applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on two large-scale educational interventions. The Fellow will join a team of researchers from the University of Michigan, University of California Irvine, Northwestern University, and Stanford University. With funding from the National Science Foundation, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Yidan Foundation, and Raikes Foundation, our research takes a top-down (i.e., educator-level vs. student-level) approach to creating cultural change within educational settings. By changing school cultures, we aim to improve educational experiences for all students and reduce racial and social class achievement gaps. In one project, we have trained three cohorts of K-12 teachers to create culturally inclusive, growth mindset classrooms. We are currently scaling up our training curriculum by creating online modules that will be accessible to educators across the country. In a second project, we have trained school administrators in a predominantly low-income, racial minority school district to create culturally inclusive educational policies and practices.
Both projects involve large amounts of qualitative and quantitative data from teachers, students, and administrators collected over the past three years. Thus, the ideal applicant will be well-versed in cultural and social psychology and have strong methodological and statistical skills, including experience working with qualitative (e.g., photo, video, essay) data, multilevel modeling, and data analysis using R. Additionally, the applicant should be passionate about developing psychological tools to address problems of educational inequality. We welcome applicants from diverse interdisciplinary backgrounds, especially those with a record of conducting research in K-12 educational settings and/or working on interdisciplinary teams.

General Project Management Activities
- overseeing ongoing grant activities (e.g., data collection, data analysis, summary and dissemination of findings)

Advancing Existing Research and Developing New Research
- planning, running, and summarizing complex statistical analyses to examine multifactorial, multi-level influences on diverse intervention outcomes
- developing and testing empirically-derived curricula for training educators to create culturally inclusive, growth minded learning environments
- scaling up interventions for online dissemination
- designing new lab and field studies
Communicating with Diverse Lay and Scientific Audiences
- identifying and building relationships with leaders in schools and districts interested in participating in future research
- visiting research sites (i.e., schools, district offices) as a representative of the research team to collect data, lead professional development workshops, and present research findings to lay audiences
- presenting findings at meetings of professional organizations
- presenting research to potential funders
Mentoring and Supervising Junior Scholars
- collaborating with senior lab members (e.g., research scientists, post-docs, and advanced graduate students)
- mentoring graduate students
- overseeing and mentoring project coordinators
- attending weekly lab meetings
- PhD in social or cultural psychology or related field
- Experience running lab, online, and field studies
- Experience collecting data in K-12 educational settings (e.g., from teachers, students, and parents)
- Experience with diverse research methodologies
- Experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Advanced statistical skills (e.g., multilevel modeling, path analysis, and multivariate statistics)
- Knowledge of multiple statistical analysis programs (e.g., SPSS, R, MPlus)
- Strong communication and leadership skills
