A postdoctoral research position is available at the University of Michigan?s Functional MRI Laboratory to work on an NIH funded project.  This research fellow will contribute to the technical development of MRI acquisition, reconstruction and denoising techniques for high resolution functional MRI at 3.0 T.  The project will involve development of state of the MRI techniques in the areas of art arterial spin labeling, as well as fast acquisition and layer-specific FMRI processing. The candidate will be expected to publish their findings in peer reviewed journals and international conferences.

The research will primarily involve these areas:

 

  • Modeling MR signal under blood flow conditions
  • Layer-Specific FMRI processing techniques
  • Advanced MR denoising methods
  • Pulse sequence design and development
  • Image reconstruction and post-processing

A strong background in signal processing and mathematical modeling is crucial for this project.  The ideal candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in a relevant discipline such as Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics.

Experience in one or more of the following areas is strongly desired: Arterial Spin Labeling (ASL), Layer Specific FMRI, MR Image Acquisition and Reconstruction, Compressed Sensing.  MR pulse programming experience is also desired, preferably in EPIC. 

One-year postdoc with option to renew.
