Job Description

  • Perform scientific studies and collect/analyze data involving but not limited to the following experimental areas:
    • Nanomaterials synthesis & chemistry, materials characterization, mammalian cell culture, a range of molecular biology assays, animal husbandry, animal surgery, and animal imaging.
  • Be responsible for fundamental laboratory management, such as quality control of reagents, ordering of reagents and supplies, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Liaise with vendors and suppliers for laboratory maintenance and general running operations.
  • Supervise laboratory members, including undergraduate researchers, and provide mentorship on an individualized basis.
  • Prepare scientific manuscripts for submission and handle the peer-review process.
  • Perform related duties as assigned or required to meet Department, Executive Area/Division, and University goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biology, or closely related field.
  • Ability to use sound judgment in normal and emergency situations.

Additional Information

  • Main research laboratory will be located at the University of Massachusetts Medical School located in Worcester, MA.
  • Initial appointment for one (1) year with additional reappointments as long as research funding exists. 
  • Benefitted position, 40 hours per week.
