What we want
The Adaptive and Secure Computing Systems (ASCS) Laboratory in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department is seeking a Research Engineer to assist with developing software and hardware solutions to support its research activities. The selected candidate will assist in the design, development, documentation, testing and debugging software, simulators, and systems required in the execution of the laboratory's research projects. Responsibilities:
Work with PI and research assistants to ensure that software and hardware specifications and standards are met.
Design and validate hardware prototype including PCB design is a plus.
Design and develop compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
Assists in open-sourcing (e.g., writing, reviewing, and editing) research artifacts.
Prepare operating instructions for internal and external software or system releases.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Experience:
Three years of related experience.
Preferred Education:
B.S. or M.S. in science, engineering, or relevant experience.
Either an excellent software developer or an excellent hardware designer
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with Programming Languages such as C, C++, Java, and Python.
- Experience working in Verilog.
- System Verilog experience is a plus.
- Experience with Quartus and/or Vivado is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Development and analysis of software and system requirements
Strong understanding of server hardware and components
Strong understanding of Linux
Ability to write, interpret, and edit BASH or Python scripts
Strong communication skills - both verbal and written.
