What you need to know:

  • The salary range for position is $37K - $67K. Final salary will be determined based on the applicant's qualifications and experience.

Job Summary

This position, under general supervision, performs laboratory testing on pavement materials, compiles and organizes data, and participates in field testing pavement materials under the direction of the project director, Principal Investigator, or higher-level research personnel.  Continued employment in this position is contingent upon availability of funding and satisfactory performance.

Essential Duties

  • Conduct directed phases of lab testing on pavement materials. Set up and operate apparatuses, collect and/or analyze samples and perform test procedures.

  • Make and record observations, compile data, and organize information for inclusion in project deliverables such as reports and presentations.

  • Assist with field testing pavement materials.

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • No prior experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet applications, and common office functions.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience performing laboratory tests, compiling data, and making inferences based on the data

  • Presentation experience (technical writing, power point)

  • Familiarity with terminology relating to characterization and properties of pavement materials

  • Demonstrated ability to perform a well-defined scope of work with limited supervision

  • Basic VBA coding

Physical Requirements

  • This position may frequently require to move/transport equipment up to 50 lbs.

  • This position may require additional work beyond normal business hours and/or work on weekends.

  • Duties may require occasional overnight travel.
