Purpose

The Research Engineer IV, evaluates, selects, and applies scientific or engineering research techniques, procedures, and criteria to make substantial adaptations and modifications to research assignments. With expertise in laser development, laser operation, laser applications and experimental sciences for work in laser diagnostics, stand-off detection and directed energy related areas relevant to Aerospace Engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and oversight of experimental efforts.
  • Implementation of electronic and optical devices in support of experimental work.
  • Collaboration with students, staff, faculty, and visiting personnel for the successful completion of experimental campaigns.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What we need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six years of related experience.

What is helpful:

  • Experience in working with advanced laser systems including short pulse lasers and nonlinear optical methods for wavelength conversion.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with pulsed laser systems, laser interactions with gas phase and solid materials, and optical methodologies.

Work Location:

  • Main Campus – College Station, TX.
  • Some positions may have potential for a flexible work schedule or location.
