Data Techincian Position – Dr. Pao-Hwa Lin Lab – Rice Diet Project

Roles and Responsibilities

In general, this position will be responsible for managing the data collected under the Rice Diet project, preparing the data for statistical analyses, cleaning the REDcap database, and preparing reports as supervised by the lead faculty statistician and the PI.

Specifically, under the supervision of the PI and the faculty statistician, the daily tasks for this position may include:

  • Reviewing REDcap data for discrepancies, outliers and unlikely values.
  • Cleaning, and program formula to convert data due to unit discrepancies.
  • Provide simple descriptive reports of the data, including trends, frequency and averages.
  • Conduct quality check of all data
  • Conduct literature review regarding the data
  • Assisting in preparing reports

Required education and skills

This position should have at least an undergraduate degree in database management, statistics or relevant field, and with a combination of technical and analytical skills. These include:

  • Analytical skills: The candidate must be familiar with at least one statistical analysis approaches such as SAS, R, or SPSS.
  • Technical skills:  The candidate must be experienced in interpreting data results and able to demonstrate past experience in presenting the results in writing or oral presentations.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Work requires knowledge of basic mathematical, data collectionand research principles normally acquired through two years post secondary education.

Experience
