Research accounting/grant review

- Tracking research expenditures (personnel and supplies)
- Keep accurate spreadsheets of all grants and cost projections
- Meet with deans office grant administrators monthly to make sure spending is accurate

Laboratory buyer

- Place all orders for the lab (chemicals, office supplies, instrumentation, consumables, etc.)
- Place all orders in a timely fashion
- Keep orders organized and maintain accurate record keeping
- Point of contact for all vendor reps, the department buyer, and the stockroom staff

Chemical Inventory 

  • Maintain extremely accurate record of all final compounds made by students (as well as all compounds currently in the library)

Compound shipments

- Willingness to work in the lab to weigh out compounds
- Responsible for retrieving samples, weighing them out, and shipping them to collaborators
- Will be point of contact for collaborators (sometimes may require to meet in person)
- Keeping an accurate record of what compounds are sent out and when



Job Summary

Inputs, updates, and maintains accurate research data in electronic databases, systems, and in archives. Compiles information, reviews data, and corrects incompatibilities. Complies with all policies and procedures.


Essential Functions 

Preferred candidates will have a BS degree in biology or chemistry that has at least 2 years of experience in a closely related work environment. This individual must be willing to spend time in a laboratory as well as meeting the demands of a laboratory manager. This person must work cooperatively and confidentially in terms of budgeting and project management. A technical background with analytical instruments is preferred.  


Physical Effort 

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time (2-5 hours a day) and have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
