Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Adele H. Stamp Student Union – Center for Campus Life seeks a Research Assistant with an equity mindset, a passion for problem solving, and a commitment to student success to support initiatives within the unit. This position will work collaboratively with the student union leadership and other stakeholders to create, manage, and report on information that enables data-informed decision-making. This position will be responsible for managing and maintaining the data systems used by the Adele H. Stamp Student Union.
This includes overseeing the documentation, collection, analysis, and reporting of data (both quantitative and qualitative) related to student activities, events, finance, and services with an emphasis in data visualization. The role will conduct analyses and create dashboards and reports using software like Tableau to provide interactive visualizations to tell compelling data-driven narratives. The purpose of these narratives will inform budgetary and programmatic decision-making in the department.
The individual in this role will work closely with the Assistant Director of Assessment and Research at the Stamp Student Union to conduct department-wide assessment of learning outcomes and goals that align with the Stamp’s mission. This role will also closely work with the Associate Director of Administrative Operations to perform financial and human resource analyses related to our programmatic and service metrics within the department. Partners for the incumbent also include members of the student union leadership team and the Division of Student Affairs to ensure that accurate data is available to inform decision-making and improve the overall student experience.
The position will conduct other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from an accredited institution, preferably in information science, education, social sciences, or related field. 

Experience:
  • At least 1-2 years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience in educational assessment, process improvement, applied statistics, social sciences, or related fields required in a higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated experience with Tableau data visualization software (or similar software), including preparing data files for dashboard reporting and production of interactive reports.

 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently (with minimal supervision) and collaboratively on assessment projects. 
  • Basic knowledge of research design, and quantitative & qualitative analysis (preferably using SPSS, R, or SAS Enterprise Guide for quantitative and NVivo or Dedoose for qualitative); and strong computer skills (especially Microsoft Office). 
  • Qualified candidates will be highly motivated, organized, and detail-oriented.

  • Background (coursework or experience) in data science and data management preferred. Experience in student affairs or higher education preferred.

Salary range for the role is $60,000-$68,500, commensurate with education and experience.

Physical Demands
Work takes place in both an office environment and in on-campus buildings; will require ability to travel throughout campus at times. Stationary computer work for hours at a time is necessary. There may be occasions when the incumbent will need to work outside their normal work shift to accommodate other shifts that exist in the organization for purposes of meetings, training, etc.
