School/College/Division Description
The Substance Use and Relationship Factors (SURF) lab has two main areas of focus: (1) research on risk factors for, and consequences of, intimate partner violence (IPV) and sexual assault and (2) research on substance use disorders and treatment. We also focus on integrating these two lines of research to examine substance-related IPV and whether treatment of substance use reduces the occurrence of IPV and sexual assault. Dr. Ryan Shorey is the principal investigator of the SURF lab.
Job Summary
Primary responsibilities will include participant recruitment and retention, collecting study data, database management, coordination with second study site (University of Tennessee), and outreach to community partners. Other responsibilities may include supervision of undergraduate research assistants, preparation of study materials, attending recruitment events, and data analysis. The project coordinator will have opportunities for publishing and presenting findings at national conferences.
Minimum Qualifications
  • BA/BS in Psychology or related field
  • Interest in LGBTQ+ health, violence, and/or substance use research
  • Conscientious work style
  • Strong interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • More than one year of research experience
Target Salary Range $21.63 an hour
