As a UW employee, you have a unique opportunity to change lives on our campuses, in our state and around the world. UW employees offer their boundless energy, creative problem-solving skills, and dedication to build stronger minds and a healthier world.

UW faculty and staff also enjoy outstanding benefits, professional growth opportunities and unique resources in an environment noted for diversity, intellectual excitement, artistic pursuits, and natural beauty.

Housed in the UW School of Public Health, the Department of Health Systems and Population Health (HSPop) is a dynamic academic and research department with the mission of working with partners in public health and health care to prepare leaders, design solutions, and conduct innovative research that is translated into practice and policy. The Department is steadfast in its efforts to improve and promote the health of all populations, and staff contribute daily and directly to the work of faculty, students, researchers and other staff, providing support and expertise to the Department's common cause. Over the past decades, the Department has conducted research of national and international importance and HSPop is steadfast in its efforts to improve and promote the health of all populations. HSPop staff contribute daily and directly to the work of faculty, students, researchers and other staff, providing support and expertise to the Department's public health cause.

The Department of HSPop values and honors excellence in teaching, mentoring, research, practice, and service to catalyze innovative solutions that overcome complex public health challenges. We are dedicated to hiring staff who integrate the principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism within their roles and responsibilities. We value and honor diverse experiences and perspectives, strive to create welcoming and respectful learning environments, and promote access, opportunity, and equity for all. The individual in this position is expected to be a steward of the program’s and department’s mission and core values, including the pursuit of equity, diversity, and inclusion.

The Department of HSPop has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Research Coordinator to provide significant support and coordination for the Health Promotion Research center (HPRC). This position will support and take on coordination and research responsibilities for our community-engaged research and evaluation projects in partnership with community-based organizations that support older adult health equity. The Research Coordinator will support activities directly through data collection, analysis, interpretation and dissemination via papers, presentations, and program supports, as well as project management through coordination of the internal and external teams, meetings, timelines, and deliverables. Current projects the Research Coordinator will support include the Mental Health and Wellness Act funded evaluation of PEARLS implementation and effectiveness in California, the CDC-funded PEARLS Equity study of an organizational intervention to promote PEARLS adoption among community-based social service organizations that engage historically marginalized older adults in California and Washington State, and the HCA-funded development of a toolkit to support mobile crisis responses for older adults in Washington State.

This position requires the Research Coordinator to work with a team of internal UW faculty, staff and students at HPRC and HSPop, as well as external partners from aging, public health, and social services at local community-based organizations, older adults participating in health promotion programming, and funders supporting both program delivery and evaluation and research activities. As such, the Research Coordinator needs to communicate confidently and diplomatically with a varied group of partners at UW, HSPop, and HPRC, as well as at the local, state, and national level. The Research Coordinator must have the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with HPRC and HSPop colleagues, older adults, and front-line practitioners, managers, and administrators, communicating effectively both in writing and verbally.

This position coordinates the daily interactions, project management, data collection, analysis and interpretation, and dissemination activities and products of HPRC in close partnership with community organizations, funders, and other partners. These activities will have a major impact on the success of these contracts. The position supports the mission of the Department of Health Systems and Population Health by contributing to equity in access to care and health outcomes among underserved populations by engaging with the organizations that provide social and health care. Finally, the position is directly related to the primary objectives of the UW: education, research, and community service.
