We are seeking a Full-Time Research Coordinator I to join the Texas Epidemic Public Health Institute as part of the UTHealth School of Public Health in Houston, TX. This project will develop a comprehensive vaccination social marketing and health promotion campaign for agricultural workers and their families in the Rio Grande Valley, Panhandle, and El Paso Texas (TEPHI Agricultural Workers Resiliency Program). Under the general direction of senior research staff, the research coordinator will be responsible for coordinating activities related to the development and delivery of the campaign, including intervention development, identification of vendors, and communication with project faculty and staff.

Position Summary:

Texas Epidemic Public Health Institute (TEPHI), established by the 87th Texas Legislature (2021), is an agency associated with The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). By leveraging the robust capabilities of Texas’ largest school of public health and its six campuses located throughout the state in Austin, Brownsville, Dallas, El Paso, Houston, and San Antonio, TEPHI will:

  • Create a trained multi-sector public health reserve of at least 3,100 members across the state.
  • Establish a reliable and secure data analysis infrastructure reinforced by the Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
  • Create a laboratory testing network to monitor for emerging infectious agents beyond COVID-19.
  • Develop new and operationalize current “work and learn safe” protocols for small and rural businesses, schools, and essential food production.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Assists with the day-to-day coordination of all project activities.
  • Coordinates vendor search and identification process for campaign marketing firm, including contracting needs.
  • Ensures campaign development process complies with the project timeline and meets deadlines for intervention development activities.
  • Assists marketing firm with campaign discovery process, including coordinating interviews with content experts, priority community, and development/implementation teams.
  • Collaborates with community implementation team based at Texas A & M University.
  • Leads training development for community implementation team. Periodic statewide travel may be required to conduct trainings.
  • Assists in the preparation of reports and communications for the departmental program/division leadership.
  • Assists with the preparation of budgets and authorizes expenditures for the project.
  • Maintains confidential records of collected data, ensures accuracy and integrity of data.
  • Provides direction and guidance to staff regarding development and implementation activities, as needed.
  • Maintain project supplies inventory and assist program manager with supply orders.
  • Participates in weekly team meetings.
  • Complies with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulation and codes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Certification/Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.

Preferred:

  • Advanced knowledge of concepts of public health research and/or health communication is strongly preferred.

Minimum Education/ Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or relevant experience in lieu of education.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.

Residency Requirement:
