Research Coordinator I

The Department of Population and Public Health Sciences at the University of Southern California is in search of a dependable, flexible, and detail-oriented full-time Research Coordinator I to join a research team to support research focusing on HPV vaccination and other cancer care delivery research in diverse, multiethnic populations. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Coordinator I will support the day-to-day activities of an ongoing multi-year HPV vaccine implementation science study funded by the National Cancer Institute as well as provide research assistance to additional developmental pilot projects in cancer prevention and cancer care navigation.

The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s Degree in a relevant science or related field (e.g. Public Health, Medical Anthropology, Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, or other related social sciences) or Bachelor's Degree plus one (1) year of applied research experience. Strong interest in health disparities and community health/health services research preferred. Demonstrates excellent organizational, coordination and problem solving skills, with attention to detail and an ability to set priorities for productivity. Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills, and oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with and recruit parents, community members and multidisciplinary medical professionals from diverse healthcare settings. Experience in data collection (qualitative interviews and surveys). Flexible working hours including evenings and weekends may be needed. Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, responsible for managing all phases of multiple research projects and ensuring compliance with study protocols. Responsibilities include recruiting study participants, interviewing participants by telephone or in person, administering survey questionnaires, coordinating research activities and meetings, and performing related duties as needed.
  • Maintains participant’s records in electronic database and ensures their confidentiality. As directed, conducts data entry, processing, and analysis.
  • Directly initiates communication with staff from outside organizations to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to study implementation.
  • Assists in IRB submissions, developing consent forms and study related recruitment materials.
  • Provides support in the preparation of presentations, lectures, manuscripts, research proposals and any other research-related activities.
  • Coordinates and/or links project operations with other administrative and research functions on and off campus. Serves as a key resource for project information and resolves problems or questions referred by internal and external sources.
  • Establishes and maintains an active network of professional contacts, excelling at cultivating rapport and positive professional relationships with all parties who intersect with the research team.

The hourly rate range for this position is $30.62 - $35.56 per hour. Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Experience: 1 year Minimum Field of Expertise: Administrative or research experience. Working knowledge of MS Office applications. Demonstrated effective communication and writing skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
