Description of Work Unit
Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation’s leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Located an hour north of the Denver metro area, Fort Collins is a vibrant community of approximately 157,000 residents that offers the convenience of a small town with all the amenities of a large city. Fort Collins is situated on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains with views of 14,000 foot peaks, and offers access to numerous cultural, recreational, and outdoor opportunities.
The WCNR business office manages all Fiscal and Human Resource operations for the college including 5 academic departments and 2 large research units. This includes all salary, payroll, travel, purchasing, sponsored research pre/post award and account reconciliations for over 900 accounts and approximately 750 personnel.
Position Summary
This position serves to support numerous units across the budget office. Employee will handle a variety of accounts including departmental, research, foundation, course fees, and 21/22 self funded. This position will be responsible for specific PIs within departments to ensure cross training across the unit, will provide budgeting and research support and then will manage a variety of other accounting duties to support the office.
Required Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree plus at least 1 year of professional research project coordination experience related to the job duties.
  • Proficiency in an office productivity suite, with particular emphasis on spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Demonstrated communication skills.
  • Experience and working knowledge of computer systems.
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • 3 years of professional research project coordination experience related to the job duties.
  • Experience working in a higher education environment
  • Experience working with a high volume research funded unit.
  • Experience working in an office environment and general business activities.
  • Process/project management skills.

  • This position serves to support numerous units across the budget office. Monthly account reconciliation, reporting to PIs, and tracking of expenses for allowability across CSU, WCNR and Federal policies and procedures.
