Summary

A Research Assistant I position is available at the University of Michigan Functional Neuroimaging, Cognitive, and Mobility Laboratory in the Department of Radiology (pdresearch.rad.med.umich.edu). The successful candidate will be expected to work under the supervision of the laboratory?s faculty members and managers.

Responsibilities*

The Research Assistant I will independently provide research, clerical, and general support for all aspects of new and ongoing research studies. In particular, the research technician will recruit and schedule research participants. This includes making phone calls to prospective participants, scheduling research visits, scheduling MRI and PET imaging appointments, and obtaining informed consent.
The Research Assistant I will also complete various data entry tasks. This includes organization of the study data forms, quality control of the data, entering of the data into databases, inter-rater reliability, and dissemination of study information. The Research Assistant will comply with all HIPAA and IRB regulations and will provide administrative assistance with regulatory management when needed. They will also assist with motor testing, neuropsychological testing, clinical testing, and collection and processing of biological specimens (e.g. blood, saliva). If required for research projects, visits to the homes of research participants may be necessary as well. Additional duties may include clerical activities, such as answering the laboratory?s main phone, checking voicemail and e-mail, scanning source documents, and ordering research supplies.


Required Qualifications*

Graduation from a college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Desired Qualifications*

A bachelor's degree in a related discipline such as psychology, social work, neuroscience, or biomedical engineering and 1-2 year of experience preferred. Candidate should be able to function as part of a multidisciplinary team, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and must work well with others. Applicants should be able to follow direction and meet deadlines. The ideal candidate for this position generally has a positive attitude and can work independently or as part of a team. Any experience in neuroimaging is a plus. The candidate should be comfortable with working with Parkinson disease patients, (frail) older adults, or persons with dementia.
