Job Summary

The University of Michigan-Dearborn is one of the three campuses of the University of Michigan system. UM-Dearborn is a comprehensive university offering high-quality undergraduate, graduate, professional, and continuing education to residents of southeastern Michigan, and it attracts more than 8,500 students. Faculty and students have the opportunity to collaborate across all three campuses in research and scholarly activity. UM-Dearborn is located 10 miles west of downtown Detroit and 35 miles east of Ann Arbor. The campus is strategically located on 200 suburban acres of the original Henry Ford Estate in the Greater Detroit Metropolitan Region.

The College of Education, Health, and Human Services, Department of Health and Human Services at the University of Michigan-Dearborn is seeking a University of Michigan student to assist with research related activities, including, data management, statistical analysis of large datasets, and assistance with development and pilot-testing of surveys/questionnaires. The research focuses mainly on obesity and obesity-related attitudes and health behaviors. This is a short-term position to start immediately and end on December 31, 2021, with the possibility of renewal for the January 1 - April 30, 2022 period.


Responsibilities*

Data management and statistical analysis using the SPSS and Microsoft Excel packages;Create tables, figures, and other presentation materials;Perform database searches and summarize literature;Assist with development and pilot-testing of scientific surveys/questionnaires.


Desired Qualifications*

Strong interest in obesity research and quantitative analyses and prior relevant coursework (e.g., HPS 412/512: Principles of Epidemiology; HPS 410: Quantitative Research; Statistics courses)Excellent writing skillsAbility to work 5-10 hours per week
