Essential Functions (Job Duties)
Successful applicant will embark on research programs in investigating the molecular mechanisms of the development of diabetic retinopathy. Other responsibilities include writing peer-reviewed manuscripts and project reports, supervising technicians and students (undergraduate, graduate, & medical), and participating in grant proposal applications.
Carry out experiments independently to understand the molecular mechanism(s) responsible for the development of diabetic retinopathy using molecular and imaging techniques. Participate in local, national, and international research meetings. Write research proposal for intramural and extramural funding support.
PhD is required.
Ph. D in Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Cell biology or related area, and 4-6 years of experience in working with animal models, tissue culture and in advanced imaging techniques. The candidate is expected to have a solid background in molecular, biochemical and functional assays, and good communication and writing skills. Preference will be given to the applicant with good publication record and previous independent funding.
