Position Summary
Design, implementation, and execution of novel ultrasound imaging methodologies, especially those involving high channel-count systems; translating ultrasound imaging theory to physical realization in phantom, preclinical, and clinical applications; oversight and maintenance of the Verasonics imaging systems and their associated transducers, computing hardware, and software infrastructures; generating and preparing data for manuscripts, conference presentations, and grant applications; writing and submitting grant proposals as PI; independently securing extramural research support.
Mentoring graduate and undergraduate students performing research in the lab; communicating and collaborating with collaborators from both basic science and clinical disciplines; training others to use the Verasonics imaging systems.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Prior experience with modifying ultrasound beam sequences, beam forming, signal and image processing, programming the high-channel ultrasound imaging system, especially Verasonics systems is required.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Prior experience as a research advisor/mentor to graduate or undergraduate students is desired.
Doctoral degree in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or related discipline with a specialization in medical ultrasound technology development is desired.
