Position Summary
The Department of Cell Biology and Physiology is a basic science department in the School of Medicine and engages in a broad range of teaching and research activities. Dr. Zylka’s lab is focused on developing treatments for pain and autism spectrum disorders. The primary purpose of this position is to accelerate the development of a genetic therapy for Angelman syndrome, a neurodevelopmental disorder. The successful candidate will be expected to perform molecular biology, proteomics, cell culture, evaluate efficacy of gene targeting strategies for making non-rodent models, evaluating efficacy of genetic therapy vectors, single cell RNA-seq library preparation, and to assist graduate students and postdocs that are working on this project.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure.

At least three years of prior lab experience with molecular biology, cloning, and CRISPR technology.
