Job Description

Responsibilities: 

  • 80% Research and procuring grants related to transportation, planning, public administration and/or related fields.

  • 20% Teaching.

  • 10% Community Outreach/Stakeholder Liaison.

  • 10% Supervising graduate students and hourly student workers associated with UNOTI research projects/Additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master degree in Transportation, Economic Development, Urban Planning, Geography, Urban Studies, Engineering or related field with five years of professional and/or academic experience.

  • Must have a broad understanding of transportation systems, transportation planning concepts, as well as facilities, regional and corridor studies, including developing defendable and implementable projects. A list of externally funded projects that showcases this experience is desirable.

  • The ability to acquire grants and external funds as a Principal Investigator (the primary individual responsible for the preparation, conduct, and administration of a research grant, cooperative agreement, training or public service project, contract, or other sponsored project in compliance with applicable laws and regulations) as well as an ability to partner with regional and national organizations to help develop research and collaboration opportunities for students.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong desire to teach, and experience teaching transportation related courses in a highly interactive environment.

  • Must have national (international preferred) experience to bring a broad range of knowledge to students.

  • Broad base with private industry as well as public (municipal, state, and federal organizations) is preferred.

  • Ability to collaborate with regional and national organizations to help develop research and collaboration opportunities for students.

  • Ability to utilize quantitative and qualitative research analysis tools like IMPLAN, EMSI, R-Studio, and or Qualtrics.

  • A Ph.D. in Transportation, Economic Development, Urban Planning, Geography, Urban Studies, Engineering, or related field.

  • Membership of national and international professional organizations is also desirable.
