The primary tasks of the Research Associates will be collecting data (e.g., conducting blood draws via intravenous (IV) placement, collecting urine and saliva samples, weighing and measuring participants, assessing body composition and resting blood pressure, preparing food to assess dietary intake, setting up electrodes for sleep assessment via polysomnography in the participants’ homes and collecting observational data on the home and neighborhood environments), data entry, and analyzing the sleep and biospecimen data (e.g., scoring sleep data collected with the polysomnogram, running assays on blood, urine, and saliva samples as needed). The Research Associates will also provide instructions for the collection of data completed by participants (e.g., urine and saliva collection, completing daily diaries prior to bedtime) and send regular reminders throughout the week to ensure compliance with this data collection. The Research Associates will be closely supervised by the Program Coordinator, Principal Investigator, and Co-Investigators. The Research Associates will work closely with graduate and undergraduate Research Assistants and will train incoming staff and students in data collection, data entry and data analysis procedures as needed. Research Associates will also assist the Program Coordinator with recruiting and scheduling participants and other project-related tasks as needed.
This job requires good interpersonal skills with individuals of diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, strong reliance on discretion and judgement when placing IVs, collecting and analyzing/scoring data, reliable transportation, and a willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes some evenings and weekends. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to the success of this funded project. Position is 1-year renewable, until conclusion of data collection for the grant (expected 7/31/2027).
Minimum Qualifications
This job requires strong oral communication skills, good interpersonal skills with individuals of diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, good use of discretion and judgement when collecting and analyzing/scoring data, reliable transportation, and a willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes some evenings and weekends.
Required qualifications include a Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology, Psychology, Nutrition, Nursing, Clinical Health Studies or a related field. The anticipated salary is $38,000-$42,000 depending on credentials and experience and includes full benefits.
Preferred Qualifications
At least 1 year of prior research experience in a related area, as well as strong organizational and leadership skills, is desired. Prior training in IV placement or conducting blood draws is preferred, but willingness to learn this skill is required.
