The College of Pharmacy is looking for a Research Associate to serve as a member of the Pharmaceutical Sciences team. Required Education:

  • Bachelor's

Required Experience:

  • 2 years of relevant professional experience

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Extensive knowledge about in vivo animal models and hand-on experience with in vivo animal models
  • Ability to work independently, excellent research skills, attention to details, and ability to analyze findings.
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills; ability to meet deadlines; attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills. Excellent presentation and teaching skills.

Preferred Education:

  •   PhD with focus on molecular and Cell biology

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities
  • Experience mentoring junior graduate students and undergraduate students
  • Experience managing safety, waste disposal, and compliance of a biomedical research lab
  • Experience in biochemistry study, including cloning, expression, purification and characterization of proteins, ELISA assays, Western blot, etc
  • Experience in animal study, including maintaining mouse strains, breeding mice, performing various in vivo animal models such as cecal ligation and puncture-induced sepsis model, ferric chloride-induced murine thrombosis model, mouse pneumonia model, etc

Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with platelet function assays and in vivo thrombosis models.
  • Patience and kindness.
  • ·Resilience and dedication to research.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collect, compiles, and analyze research data.
  • Assist in managing the breeding and genotyping of animals colonies
  • Order and prepare buffers and research reagents as needed and keeps a log
  • Provides written reports (including abstracts & manuscripts for publications) of research findings and literature search, as/when requested. 
  • Assists in grant writing as needed
  • Assists with conducting research projects
  • Manage and overseas research equipment
  • Comply with all state and university policies
  • Demonstrates intermediate to expert skills with Microsoft office software, and is able to learn and use institutional software systems.
  • Other duties as assigned
