Job Summary:

The Senior Research Associate will conduct research related to blood clotting proteins and their role in normal physiology and disease processes.

The position requires the employee to work after 5 P.M. or on weekends, if necessary. Involves experiments with small animals (mostly mice).  May have to work occasionally in the cold room (4°C) as needed.

 

Major Responsibilities / Duties / Critical Tasks:

·         Performs all necessary biochemical, molecular, and cell biology techniques to conduct the research.  

·         Plans and completes research assignments as assigned by principal investigator. 

·         Cultures the cells under sterile conditions without having infection.

·         Handles small laboratory animals, including administering tail-vein injections and other animal procedures.

·         Performs research work independently with the guidance from the mentor after the initial training (no formal training, learned during performing the job functions). 

·         Maintains responsibility for ordering, inventory laboratory supplies and general upkeep of the laboratory. 

·         Completes accurate and timely documentation of experimental work.

·         Performs any other related duties as assigned.

·         Proven ability to plan and execute lab research projects.

·         Proven ability to collaborate with others internally and externally to plan and execute research projects.

·         Ability to use all common laboratory equipment, thermal cycler, microtome, light and fluorescence microscope, flow cytometry and any other specialized equipment as needed.



Qualifications

 

Required Education / Experience:

·         Master’s in Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or related science field.

·         Previous experience working in a lab is highly preferred.

·         Previous experience working in hemostasis and thrombosis research area is preferred.

·         Competence in the use of basic research techniques.
