Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in a related field and five or more years of related research experience, or a master's degree and seven or more years of related research experience.  Grade EF. Salary Minimum $47,476. 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with laboratory-based research-- animal and human studies, or environmental studies.
  • Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree in physiology or related field.
  • Experience with animal handling and a solid understanding of cardiovascular physiology and toxicology is desired with up to three years of hands-on tobacco- and/or cardiovascular-related research experience.
Position Description

The University of Louisville's Center for Cardiometabolic Science seeks a candidate for a Research Associate Sr position. This position will focus on quantifying the cardiovascular toxicity of new and emerging tobacco products including electronic cigarettes using animal models of human disease.

The selected candidate will work closely with an inhalation exposure team to monitor real time and post-exposure effects of tobacco product-derived aerosols on biomarkers of exposure and biomarkers of harm.

Experience with laboratory-based research setting -- primarily performing animal research and familiarity with isolated blood vessel techniques, data quantification, and graphical representation.

The candidate will be expected to present research findings at scientific meetings and to publish in peer-reviewed scientific journals. This position is funded by the NIH and is renewable, contingent upon funding and work performance. The University offers market competitive salary and benefits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collect and organize research data and assist in research experiments and exposures.
  • Organize and conduct statistical analysis of data generated from research activities
  • Assist with data analysis and interpretation
  • Conduct literature searches, monitor current research to keep protocols up to date with current knowledge in the field.
  • Assist with grant applications, research reports, and manuscript preparation
  • Supervision of graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and technicians
  • Related duties as assigned
