Essential Functions (Job Duties)
Coordinate research, community engagement and programmatic meetings, events and progress reporting and scholarly activities in support of the Wayne State University One Health Integrative Initiative and the Center for Leadership in Environmental Awareness and Research (CLEAR) working group.
Facilitate meetings, monitor and facilitate scientific progress, foster collaborative integration and training experiences, engage in cross-cutting communication and planning, implement programmatic events and workshops for the Center for Leadership in Environmental Awareness and Research (CLEAR) working group and the One Health Initiative working group.
Work with One Health and CLEAR teams to produce scholarly abstracts, posters, peer-reviewed publications and competitive grant applications. Work effectively with university staff to prepare and maintain interactive websites for the CLEAR and One Health working groups.
Analyze and present research data and educational material to One Health and CLEAR faculty, graduate and undergraduate audiences as directed and pursue an individual research direction that integrates with CLEAR and/or One Health working group thematic areas.
Other duties as assigned.
 
Unique Duties
 
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in biological or engineering sciences for the Research Assistant
Doctoral Degree in Environmental health, Biological Science or Environmental Engineering Sciences for the Research Associate
3 to 4 years of experience in the areas environmental health science, One Health research/education, environmental ecology, or environmental engineering with a public health/One Health focus.
Essential skills include the ability to communicate effectively across academic disciplines; a high level of "people skills" such as the ability to work professionally with university faculty, trainees, community members, the private sector, and NIH/NSF program staff; excellent organizational skills; the ability to work effectively to meet and prioritize goals and deadlines; excellent writing skills; motivation to work both independently and as a team-player.
