Job Summary:

The Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a Research Associate/Project Manager to actively manage the daily operations of a complex 5-year research project within the Program on Aging, Disability, and Long-term Care. The Research Associate (Project Manager) will be responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and overseeing a multi-state study to understand antipsychotic use in assisted living residences. This position will require substantial capacity to coordinate and maintain responsibility for multiple concurrent office and field tasks. The ability to occasionally travel overnight will be needed to support and supervise field staff, and to maintain positive relationships with assisted living residences. Demonstrated success training and supervising staff, ensuring human subjects and data safety, coordinating multi-faceted research efforts, and maintaining project timelines is essential.
 
Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of five years working in health services or related research is required. The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:
- Well-developed research skills in a related research field, conducting primary data collection (interview and chart abstraction), project management, data management, and reporting
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, SAS, and Qualtrics 
- Experience conducting research in long-term care or closely related settings
- Demonstrated skills in the collection and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and experience working on projects that require collaboration with many disciplines and levels of authority 
- Excellent attention to detail and highly organized work skills
- Ability to plan and complete work independently
- Ability to train and supervise research staff and to give and receive constructive feedback
- Strong writing and presentation skills
- The ability to occasionally travel out of state, including for over- and multi-night trips
Receipt of a Master's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field.
