The Department of Pharmacology and Neuroscience, in School of Medicine, Creighton University is seeking a full-time, highly motivated and skilled Cellular biologist to join our team as Research Associate. 
A Research Associate provides senior-level support. Performs basic or applied research of a limited scope, primarily using existing theories and methods. Assists in the interpretation and publication of results and grants. Assists in initiating, executing and completing the clinical research and experiments. Prepares and writes research papers, presentations, grant proposals, etc. Primary responsibility is ensuring that the research is complete. Performs a variety of tests requiring a high degree of proficiency. Evaluates experiment results using complex statistical and multivariate analysis.
Please note, this is state funded project on biological evaluation of small chemical molecules against target receptor. 
Primary Responsibilities:
•    Perform work as directed by the Principal Investigator to conduct ongoing research experiments.
•    Become an integral member of a Project Team. 
•    Design and develop high throughput assay to test small molecules against target receptor.
•    Collaborate and communicate research results effectively with the team
•    Maintain accurate Lab book records of experiments and analytical data
•    Maintain a safe working environment

Description of Research Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have the demonstrated ability to perform, or be willing to learn, the following tasks in a research laboratory:
•    Perform a variety of technical duties such as re-establishing reported screening assays and investigating effects small molecule compounds in these established screening assays. 
•    Willing to Perform Cell culture techniques such as PCR, sequencing, plasmid cloning and scaled preparation, RNA synthesis, DNA/RNA analysis (gel restriction digests/Southern blot, Sanger sequence analysis) Western blot, immunohistochemistry, microscopy, imaging and image analysis.
•    Laboratory maintenance duties such as assisting with; LCMS runs, maintaining reagent and equipment inventories.
•    The candidate will be expected to document procedures and collect data in an organized and complete fashion following the laboratory SOP.
•    Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
This position is 100% grant funded. 
This position will work Monday to Friday 8am-4:30pm; depending upon research needs position may require evening, weekend, and holiday work.  
 


Qualifications:
Master's Degree or equivalent degree in Biology/Bio molecular science/ or equivalent;
5+ year's research lab experience that includes 1 year or more in a cell biology laboratory.
  
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Ability to perform a variety of technical duties such as re-establishing reported screening assays and investigating effects small molecule compounds in these established screening assays;
Ability to perform Cell culture techniques such as PCR, sequencing, plasmid cloning and scaled preparation, RNA synthesis, DNA/RNA analysis (gel restriction digests/Southern blot, Sanger sequence analysis) Western blot, immunohistochemistry, microscopy, imaging and image analysis;
Must have a strong work ethic;
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to work independently as well as part of a small team:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel; PowerPoint and Outlook;
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending upon research needs
