The Research Associate will be examining sleep and morphology in F2 surface-cavefish hybrids. They will also be responsible for coordinating activities administered by the research program including purchasing and maintenance of supplies and fish care. Required Education and Experience:

  • Appropriate bachelor's Degree
  • 2 years' relevant professional experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Genomic extraction, measuring behavior, morphological phenotyping
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in biology or ecology-related field
  • Experience with fish husbandry and behavioral analysis, specifically cavefish
  • Experience in genetic mapping and sleep regulation

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong organization skills

Responsibilities:

  • Research Experiments - Performing research experiments related to aquatic model organisms including cavefish and ciclids.
  • Documentation - Please list job duties. Documenting and maintaining lab notebook and writing manuscripts.
  • Training - Training new personal.
  • Lab Maintenance - Maintaining research fish facilities and all related animal husbandry. Purchasing and maintenance of research supplies and equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.
