Description of Work Unit | The Institute for Research in the Social Sciences (IRISS) is a Level II Core Facility supported by the Office of the Vice President for Research and College of Liberal Arts at Colorado State University which aims to connect and support social scientists with other researchers, as well as university, community, and industry partners. We develop and deliver services that enhance social science research capacity, help to improve grant competitiveness campus-wide, promote interdisciplinary research networking opportunities and provide research methods training in support of the University’s land grant mission. |
Position Summary | Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Research, the Research Associate IV Team Scientist will lead, manage, develop, and participate in research for client-based Team Science research projects. This position will be responsible for conducting research and completing project-based assignments to sustain the needs and activities of IRISS in its goal of conducting transformational and collaborative social science. Responsibilities include development and support of research proposals, interfacing with clients, developing team science workshops, building collaborative capacity for teams, facilitating team science workshops and activities, and promoting team science through connections with potential clients and advisory board members. Though this position focuses on Team Science, this position may contribute to non-Team Science project-based work requiring facilitation, training, and/or social science research activities. We welcome applicants to demonstrate how their background relates to the science of team science. This position will support IRISS’s development in the execution of current research projects, in the project management and coordination with partners, and engagement with key personnel as necessary. The successful candidate will build strong and positive working relationships with staff, unit directors, researchers, campus faculty, and administrators, as well as external community and business partners as required with each project. Occasional travel and working non-standard hours are expected periodically to support teams and clients working and living in other time zones. This position may occasionally be asked to support organizational priorities and projects as assigned by the Associate Director of Research. |
