Research Associate in Biology

The University of Virginia, Department of Biology, is seeking applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in the lab of Professor Jianhua “JC” Cang. 

 

The Cang lab studies the neural basis of vision using mice and tree shrews as animal models and taking an integrative approach that combines in vivo physiology, two-photon imaging, viral, genetic, genomic, behavioral, and computational techniques. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, capable of working independently and with others, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and have experience in at least one of the following areas: electrophysiology (in vivo or in slices), 2-photon imaging, genomics, and animal psychophysics.

 

The candidate will take a leading role in ongoing studies of cell-type-specific visual processing in mouse superior colliculus; and/or lead the efforts to study binocular integration in tree shrew visual cortex.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A PhD in Neuroscience or a related area is required by the start date of the appointment.  Candidates must have demonstrated experience in one of the following areas, electrophysiology (in vivo or in slices), 2-photon imaging, genomics, and animal psychophysics.
