Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Associate III for Pharmacology, Physiology and Neuroscience within the New Jersey Medical School.  In collaboration with faculty members, the Research Associate will test the central hypothesis that opening of Cx43 hemichannels by S-nitrosylation is a required step in endothelial cells for Ca2+ entry and enhanced production of NO and EDHF, whose signaling regulates longitudinal propagation of vasodilation along the vessel length. Specifically, the Research Associate will identify the presence of connexin-43 hemichannels in endothelial cells and determine whether these hemichannels are activated by endothelium-dependent vasodilators via direct S-nitrosylation. The Research Associate will also determine the specific role of endothelium Cx43 hemichannels in Ca2+ entry and its mediation of EDHF production in endothelial cells.
