Description of Work Unit

    The Social Work Research Center (SWRC) is a central part of the School of Social Work. The mission of SWRC is to create university-practice partnerships that bridge the gap between research and practice, transform the child well-being landscape, and strengthen families. Our portfolio includes research and evaluation in child maltreatment prevention, child well-being, youth development, juvenile justice, family functioning, human trafficking, behavioral health, social justice, health equity, and knowledge translation. Established in 2004, SWRC has advanced the child welfare field in Colorado in demonstrable ways, and is uniquely positioned to promote evidence-based research, practice, and policy in the health and human services domains.

    Position Summary
    The Social Work Research Center in the School of Social Work at CSU (http://www.ssw.chhs.colostate.edu/research/swrc/) seek applicants for one position at the Research Associate III level. This position will be part of a team of researchers and evaluators completing applied research studies and program evaluations with culturally diverse communities in child maltreatment prevention, child well-being, youth development, and related fields for county, state, and federal agencies and community-based organizations. This position has a specific focus on project management and mixed-methods for child welfare and prevention programming research and evaluation.
    Required Job Qualifications
    • Master’s degree in Social Work, Public Health, Public Policy, or other related Social Science field
    • Minimum of two years of research, evaluation, or practice experience (outside of coursework).
    • Demonstrated experience with research/evaluation projects in an applied setting
    • Proficiency in mixed-method research
    • Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and organizational skills
    • Ability to work collaboratively with university colleagues, students, administrative support staff, and external community/agency partners
    • Fluency in data management, participant confidentiality, and security protocols
    Preferred Job Qualifications
    • Enrollment in or completion of a PhD program in Social Work, Public Health, or other related Social Science field
    • Demonstrated experience with and passion for data equity, anti-racism, and social justice principles and practices
    • Demonstrated knowledge of community-engaged and participatory research approaches
    • Demonstrated knowledge of, and relevant experience with, research and evaluation in culturally diverse communities
    • Understanding of data visualization and knowledge translation techniques
    • Experience in project management processes and platforms (e.g., Smartsheet, Microsoft Projects, etc.)
    • Familiarity with the Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA)
    • Demonstrated knowledge of, and relevant experience with, external funding proposals

    Essential Duties


    Job Duty Category Data Collection, Data Analysis, and Report Writing
    Duty/Responsibility
    Individually and collaboratively perform activities related to data collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination (e.g., report writing, manuscript preparation, presentations) for a variety of evaluation and research projects conducted by SWRC. Specific tasks include:
    • Data collection through surveys, instruments, administrative data, interviews, and focus groups
    • Data analysis using basic and advanced quantitative and qualitative techniques
    • Conceptualization and development of mixed-method approaches for a variety of evaluation and research studies within the SWRC portfolio
    • Interpretation of data results, as grounded in social work research theories and methodologies
    • Data visualization and knowledge translation through a data equity lens
    • Dissemination of project results, including through reports, manuscripts, presentations, and other outreach activities
    • Attendance at Center and project meetings
    • Other duties as assigned

    Responsibility for project management activities related to research and evaluation studies within the SWRC portfolio. Specific tasks include:
    • Create and implement evaluation and project plans
    • Develop timelines and assess project progression of evaluation plan and project goals
    • Document timelines and project progression on SWRC-utilized project management systems (e.g., Smartsheet)
    • Ensure consistent and timely progress is made on the project as it relates to the scope of work
    • Engage clear communication with, coordination of, and supervision of project team members and students/interns
    • Participate in Center and project meetings
